Another year older and wiser too...

La Mulț Ani!

La mulț ani, Sora Leavitt!

We have had several wonderful visits with Sora Silvia and on this one she was able to help me pull off a bit of a surprise for the birthday.  She is a very talented professional watercolor artist and loves to paint the historic buildings in and around Iași, along with many other things.  This on is one of our favorite buildings.  It is the Biblioteca Centrală Universitară Mihai Eminescu (Mihai Eminescu University Library).  It's triangle in shape and amazing architecture.  Fun times, she's the best.

We decided to take our P-Day (B-Day) and visit an area we had not seen yet.  We were not disappointed in Piatra Neamț.  It is a beautiful city with farm ground on one side and the mountains on the other.  It has a beautiful Centru (Center) with a clock tower, church and wall, built between 1468-1475, and many beautiful buildings and structures.  There is a gondola that takes you to the top of the mountain where the views are spectacular.  There is also a beautiful wooden synagogue built in 1766 and is considered the oldest wooden synagogue in Romania and possibly in southeastern Europe.  The gelato didn't disappoint either.

We left Piatra Neamț and drove through the adjoining canyon.  It was filled with remarkable views.  The little brown church sits out in the countryside all by itself.  There are no villages or homes close by.

As we have driven around the country it is interesting to see the variety of things being sold in the different regions along the roadside.  We've seen produce of every kind, flowers, breads, mushrooms, weeds, honey, meat, cheese, zacusca, jam, preserves, baskets, pottery and fresh grape wine, just to mention a few.  This area happened to be handmade brooms.  Go figure.

We had a fun P-Day all together at the botanical gardens.  It's especially beautiful in the Spring with mostly the 100's of varieties of tulips.

We finished out a busy week with some service at Sora Silvia's house.  We gathered up branches and such and mowed the grass.  We topped off the day with some grilled mici (meaning little ones, they are spiced, skinless, sausages) and cheese stuffed mushrooms.  We had an amazing experience serving both physically and spiritually.  It brings great joy to the giver and the receiver.  Booyaa! (that's English)

Beautiful Băbă.  She is the sweetest, her apartment is right by the church.  She stopped, waved and smiled at us then posed for a picture.

Serving here in this beautiful county is an honor and we will treasure the people and experiences forever.  We hope you have a great week.  There is no doubt that as you go about doing good as the Savior did you will be filled with His love.   Vă iubim pe toți
