Fire of Faith
Bună dimineața, Iași
(Good morning, Iași)
President and Sister Doru visited our home and branch this week. Even though the Iași Branch may be small in number they are large in Spirit. Their individual stories of faith, perseverance and hope are inspiring. We can't thank them enough for the lessons they have taught us and the unconditional love they have extended without guile. That friendship and love will forever be embedded in the fibers of our hearts as it continues to fan the fire of OUR faith.
We couldn't resist having a themed meal for Institute class, which just happened to be Halloween night. We served bat wings, eyeballs and deviled eggs, not to mention that the lesson was on the Holy Ghost.
looks like this... feels like this!
Traveling many of the streets can test your skills. We take this route every day out of our parking lot. It's a good thing the mirrors fold in.
The beautiful Teatrul Național "Vasile Alecsandri" din Iași (National Theatre "Vasile Alecsandri in Iași) with the newly completed fountain and reflecting pool. It's remarkable.
The flowers are on their way out but couldn't pass up one last photo opp and stroll along Bulevardul Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt before the cold takes over. It is directly in front of the Palatul Culturii (Palace of Culture) and closed to motorized traffic and is filling with more and more vendors preparing, we believe, for the Holiday season.
The awe inspiring Sfânta Cuvioasă Parascheva de la Iași, (Saint Parascheva Cathedral of Iași). Saint Parascheva was credited with miraculous healings and visions of the Virgin Mary. Leaving home at an early age she ended up in a convent and there would die at the age of 27. Her remains have been here in Iași since 1641. First in the Trei Ierarhi Monastery (left) and then in 1888 transferred to St. Parascheva (right). Every year on her birthday in October, hundreds of thousands of people travel to Iași. The pilgrimage is considered the largest Orthodox religious event in Romania.
As the leaves continue to fall it opens up a different view of our surroundings making it possible to see things that we couldn't before. It's a beautiful country in so many ways.
District Council. Feed 'em and send them on their way. Even though you can't see their faces, it's them.
Elder's Clark, Oler, Taylor and Dickson. You can see who is cleaning up...jk
We finished our week with a wonderful visit to the Podaru family. We had a great conversation. It's times like this where we wished we could speak the language. Thank you Surori Morrison and Davis for being patient with us and helping us to understand the conversation better. It's a good thing Sora Leavitt can speak the languages of Love and the Spirit. She fills in a lot of the blanks.
Noapte Bună, Iași
(Good night, Iași)
