There is beauty all around

 P-Day adventure

We decided to take a little drive and explore an area we hadn't seen yet.  We knew we wanted to see a few more of the painted churches but we not totally prepared for the beauty we were about to experience.  We saw two more of the churches and so much more.  A third church is under renovation, so we didn't stop this time around. There are about three more in the same area we hope to see too.  Not sure if we can beat the weather this year, we may have to wait until spring.  We'll see.

Sucevița Mănăstirea

Moldovița Mănăstirea

The farmer kids in us can't resist the crops being harvested and the time of year that brings so many memories flooding back.  From top to bottom we have the corn cut and stacked in standing piles, the sunflower seeds being loaded into the truck, the first potato harvester we've seen, a pile of sugar beets, fresh mown hay, grass cut and hanging to dry, apples galore (and a bonus church in the background), and yes garlic, the closer we get to Transylvania the more of it we see.

We made our way to Marginea, where it is one of only two places in the world that make this black pottery.  I guess the other place is in Mexico.  The black color comes from the smoke of the kiln as it is loaded with wood through the drying process.  Couldn't resist bringing at least one piece home.

We noticed the Surori out working and thinking they were preserving some of the harvest I approached to take a picture.  I thought it was beans but upon closer inspection it was candles.  They take all of the partially used candles from the offering candle cabinets and melt them down and reuse the wax to make more candles.  Two of them were working and the other two were standing off to the side on their phones surfing the net.  Many things around the world are the same.

As promised, we caught a few more color pictures and the leaves were almost at their peak.  The countryside in a bit different direction was stunning.  Many of the panorama's remind us of home and the villages in the mountains really remind me of my West Virginia days, especially this time of the year when the smoke was coming from the chimneys and the smell of fall lingers.  God is good!  We are so blessed by this beautiful world that He has created for us all.  "...and men are that they might have Joy".
