Week 25 Judging and Teaching Assignments

We started the week with an invitation to help judge an English teacher speaking competition.  It was difficult and intriguing at the same time.  We met some new friends and enjoyed our time with them.

We had a week filled with new teaching assignments in and around Ulaanbaatar City.  Thursday, we met six new schools and Friday we visited five.  They were all very hospitable and so grateful that their school was chosen to have our American English teachers (which are amazing by the way and are a shining example to all they meet) help the students and teachers in speaking English.  This is the last week leading up to Tsagaan Sar (Lunar New Year) so many of the children were wearing their traditional clothing to school.  The bulletin board backdrop is all made from thick wool felt.  The workmanship is incredible.  It's an amazing celebration.  More on that next week.

The last few photos are the area in and around the last two schools visited.  The children live primarily in the Ger District and are amazing and resilient.  The vast majority are very good students and excel in their schoolwork.  The teachers are equally capable and exude an extreme love for what they do and especially the kids.

This is one of the church buildings that is right at the edge of the Ger District and is very striking as is sets elevated from the surrounding area.
