It’s been quite a ride. We arrived on Monday September 9th and it has been non-stop since then. This is probably the most photographed map in the world. Over 170 Senior Couples entered with us and there are over 2000 young missionaries here this week as well. It is nothing short of a miracle to see this sea of diligent young people all engaged in the work of the Lord. Nearly every country in the world is represented in either someone going there or someone from there going somewhere else.
We have had an amazing time with our District. Couples from all over, going all over. Lifelong friends. Our teachers, Sister Gwen Gee and Sister Taycee Oliphant were amazing and wise above their years. We spent the week learning concepts and skills from Preach My Gospel, our missionary text and companion to the scriptures.
Both Tuesdays we had the opportunity to sing with the MTC choir, 800 strong, for the weekly devotional. Amazing experience. First week speakers were Elder & Sister Takashi Wada of the 70 and this week it was Elder & Sister Michael Ringwood of the Presidency of the 70. All were amazing talks and said things we needed to hear.
Through a simple tender mercy of the Lord we were able to find the Elders going to Mongolia and were able to sing with them in the choir. They are amazing.
Beautiful evening at the Provo City Center Temple.
This week was spent at the English Learning Center on the BYU campus. We observed and taught several classes and met students from across the globe, who are all here to learn to speak English. The spirit of goodness they each carried was overwhelming. The staff was gracious and very helpful to prepare us to teach in Mongolia. Thanks Andrea, we couldn't have done it without you.
We were also able to meet a new friend from Mongolia, here working on her Master's Degree. We are taking hugs back home for her. It was great to meet you Jagaanaa.
The culmination of our time here was meeting the Mongolian instructors and being able to spend the last bit of time with the Mongolian bound missionaries. Five more (3 sisters and 2 elders) arrived Wednesday and we can't wait to serve with them all in a few short weeks.
Bonus of the week was finding our Sister Meeka Jolley from our home ward. She's awesome and inspiring. Love you Sister Jolley.
Awesome!
